How to Keep Pets Safe in the Summer Heat!
Although summer doesn’t start until June 20th, many areas are experiencing serious seasonal heatwaves already. If you are a pet owner, it is essential that you take extra precautions to keep your furry friends safe and comfortable during this time of year. Watch the video below to learn how!
Tips for Properly Caring for your Pets this Summer
1- Make sure your pet has access to fresh, clean water at all times. This might go without saying, but it is essential to remember to consistently check on your pet’s water level — especially when it’s hot since their consumption is sure to increase!
2 – If your pet is outdoor-only, ensure that they have shelter or shade available to keep cool.
3 – The cement can burn your four legged friends paws! Take them on walks early in the morning or late at night, and avoid bringing them outside during the hottest part of the day (2-3pm).
If you must take them out, consider purchasing paw protectors or an ointment to give your pet protection form the hot pavement. Click the linked text to see your options.
4 – Unfortunately, pets are also susceptible to sunburns, sun damage, and even sun cancer. Keep your pet out of direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time to avoid damaging rays. If you know your pet will be outdoors for an extended period of time, you might want to pick up a bottle of pet safe sunblock! Check out this FDA approved option here.
